When it comes to home security, we often tend to focus only on the front door, and end up forgetting other areas that also need our full attention, such as the pedestrian gate and the garage door.
Let's see how we can make these entrances more secure.
The garage is one of the first places in the house that should be secured, as we park our cars, motorbikes, bikes and we often store expensive materials, such as winter or summer tyres, electrical equipment and much more.
Most garages have a metal tilt door, usually protected by a standard lock with a half cylinder and a handle on the outside and a lever on the inside. These locks often have a single locking point, located at the top of the door.
The first step is to install a high-security lock for tilt doors, whose mechanism is protected by a cylinder with anti-bulglary technology and several locking points.
An example of such products are our Series 45 locks, on which a CHAMPIONS® high-security Euro-profile cylinder can be installed and which can have up to six locking points (two at the top, two at the bottom, and two at the sides).
To make your door even more secure, we also recommend installing a Defender® on the outside, the armoured protector that shields the lock cylinder from most burglary attempts.
On most pedestrian gates there is an electric rim lock, installed on the inside of the gate. This makes it much more convenient to automatically unlock it when someone rings the doorbell.
Unfortunately, we often focus only on the electrical features of the lock, not considering properly the mechanical ones, as the security of the key opening cylinder on the outside.
Make sure you install an electric gate lock with a high security cylinder, such as Mottura's XDRIN with a cylinder from the CHAMPIONS range.
XDRIN also works with accessories from the bTECHNOLOGY ecosystem; you will then be able to open your gate with a numerical code, your fingerprint or a remote control.
This way you will be safer from break-in attempts without sacrificing convenience.
